Diese mail hab ich heute von V-Cubes bekommen:

Dear friends,

We hope that you are all well and enjoying the holidays season that is approaching!

The reason of our e-mail is the terrible situation that we are facing with the Chinese thieves that are stealing our Intellectual Property.

You are all aware that in the last days clones of the V-CUBE 9 hit the market.
These people are doing everything that they can to steal the market from us and win money from our invention and achievements. Their goal is to throw us out of the market and close our company.

We have already proceed to serious legal actions against them, but the results won't come before 2-3 years, as the Chinese law is built in a way that actually protect the infringers.

We understand that you cannot prevent anyone from buying this cube. It is our job to block them through PayPal, e-bay, youtube etc. and we will do it.
We also understand that it is difficult and some times annoying to block discussions.

However, since our company is very new and is still trying very hard to survive and make some very important deals(that can be destroyed if the situation become out of control) we ask you to co-operate with us and help us whenever you can in this war. Imagine the web in three months full of videos, algs and discusiions about this cube...

We ask you to explain to the speedcubing community that it is not appropriate to help these thieves by advertizing their KO cubes and discussing in forums, or exchanging videos and techniques on how to solve this cube. At least not in public.
We ask from the speedcubing community to understand the situation that we are facing and make patience for 1 year, as this is the time that we need to develop the original V-CUBE 9.
It is very crucial for us that you will develop a KO policy throughout the community and not support these thieves on the known forums and also to the WCA events.

Everyone of you knows that although that our company is small and new, we are trying very hard to build a strong brandname and support the sport and the cubers in any way that we can.

We are asking you is to remove from the speedcubing forums every thread that has to do with the KO V9 and the links that are pointing to illegal webshops and also inform us if you found out places that are selling the KOs and not include the 9x9 events either on an unofficial either on an official scale. We ask you to open private discussions based on this e-mail with the cubers and try to persuade them to do the right thing.
This time the things are much more complicated than the KOs V5s, V6s and V7s because of the lack of the original.
We now have to prove to every legal commercial organization in the world that "we are not elephants" as a Greek slogan says. And we believe that with your support we have more chances to achieve that.

On our side we will continue to support the sport and work with the WCA whenever WCA wants it and we will continue
to try to keep everyone happy. We will start the molding for the V9 asap and we beleive that we will have it done by the end of 2010 or at least at the start of the 2011. Moreover as the V-CUBE and Verdes is a company that is based on innovation we assure you that in the next months we will release new concepts that will change the map of the cubing quite a lot and help the sport to become an OLYMPIC sport.

We are here to discuss further on this very sad for us matter either with the WCA board, either with the moderators of the speedcubing forums, either with any other cuber.

We trust that you will do the right thing

On behalf of speedsolving.com, we instituted a new policy on removing anything that is blatantly in violation of the law. This includes v-cube knockoffs that are in direct violation of US patent law. Hopefully this will help some.

Wenn es nach mir geht gehört sowieso jeder Thread über sowas mit dem Kommentar "Diese Cubes sind illegal!" geschlossen. Was sagt ihr?

Ich denke da sollten wir mitziehen. Ich kann die ganzen Plagiate eh nicht ab.
Ich bin jetzt auch mal so eingebildet und behaupte "Wir als größtes deutschsprachiges Communityforum" sollten uns anschließen und die Dinger aussperren.

Ich kann dem nur zustimmen. Es ist ja auch in unserem Interesse, dass Verdes überlebt. Denn die Leute, die in China die Kopien herstellen, unterstützen die Community bzw. die WCA in keinster Weise. Ich bezweifle auch, dass die Plagiate eine annähernd gute Qualität, wie die Originale haben.
Abgesehen davon ist der V-Cube Mechanismus geistiges Eigentum des Erfinders, was in Europa und den USA durch Patente geschützt ist. Die Chinesen interessiert das aber recht wenig, denen gehts imo hauptsächlich um wirtschaftlichen Fortschritt.
Da man auf rechtlicher Basis wenig dagegen tun kann, halte ich es für wichtig, dass sich die Community mit dem Thema auseinandersetzt. Das heißt konkret: Keine Plagiate kaufen, keine Links zu Video/Bildmaterial der Kopien verbreiten, und ggf. Seiten, die die Kopien anbieten bei Verdes zu melden.

wie schon in der mail von verdes erwähnt sollten wir natürlich auch jeden missbrauch melden.
vor allem aber auch die verbreitung stoppen. also wenn es ein neues thema dazu gibt, nicht nur schließen, sondern auch die links entfernen, wenn nicht sogar die ganzen threads. auch wenn wir das normalerweise nicht tun.

Die Links entfernen ist in Ordnung, wenn wir die Themen wegschmeißen kommen wir nur in eine Endlosspirale, da wir jedem neuen User dann erklären müssen, warum wir sein Thema weggeworfen haben.

Ich denke auch wir sollten erstmal die Links entfernen und bei den Fällen dann die entsprechende Aufklärung leisten, also kurz das der illegal ist..
Verdes machen ihre Sache echt gut und sie unterstützen den Sport immens, auch wenn es um Support geht sind sie immer erreichbar und sehr kulant.
Ich hoffe das das mit dem V-9 eine gute Entscheidung ist und die Chinesen wirklich nicht dazu kommen den Markt da anzugreifen, auch wenn bei mir der 9x9 dann eine Frage des Preises wird, dauert aber ja auch noch nen bisschen, wobei november wünschenswert wäre damit sie das weihnachtsgeschäft direkt haben

Ich bin der Meinung, wir sollten das ganze Topic mal öffentlich machen - und sagen warum wir solche Sachen closen.
Das geht alle User etwas an denke ich.
Was haltet ihr davon?!

Ich bin mir nicht sicher. Den Brief würde ich jedenfalls nicht veröffentlichen, immerhin ging er ja an "Freunde und Partner" von Verdes. Ansonsten hast du das ganz gut geregelt denk ich.

Ich mag hier intern sicherlich nicht über irgendjemanden lästern, aber dieser Thread regt mich extrem auf.
Es ist absolut begründet, und eben NICHT voreilig geschlossen.

Ist es echt so schwer ein bisschen Intelligenz zu zeigen, und sowas zu verstehen?

Ich finde, es nervt, dass so viele Threads einfach geschlossen werden, obwohl darin noch hätte diskutiert werden können und die Lage eigentlich gar nicht "ausgeartet" ist.

1. so viele?? sind das wirklich viel, wenn wir die "Der beste Cube" Threads mal abziehen?
2. Bei diesem Thread war das Thema ein anderes => nein - man hätte nicht darin über Fake Cubes diskutieren können
3. hat irgendjemand etwas von einer "ausgearteten" Lage gesagt - NEIN!


EDIT: Ich hab jetzt auch nicht wirklich Lust zu dem Thread Stellung zu nehmen, da ich sonst wohl nicht, wie sonst, überlegt und freundlich schreiben könnte. Ich werde mir das ganze bis morgen aufheben und dann dazu etwas schreiben.
